Waybill Creator - Format 1
Waybill Creator Format 1 Version 1.0
The Waybill Creator is very similar to it's sister application, Manifest Creator. However instead of creating a Manifest, it creates Freight Waybills and Empty Car Cards for those of you who are currently using Waybills and would like to stay with that method.
When using this application, you would replace Waybills rather than turning the existing Waybills in their Car Pockets. Using this method provide much more variety that just the four options of a pre-printed Waybill and allow you to use JMRI Operations to control you layout. The only downside is that you would be using more paper and ink. Of course, the use of this is up to you.
Here is how to get started.
1. First you MUST use JMRI Version 2.11.4 or later. (This should not be an issue at this time.)
2. Set the Create CSV Manifests option in the operation portion of JMRI ... Operations > Settings > Tools > Options
3. Create and build a train.
4. Exit JMRI
Running Waybill Creator:
1. Download WBCI4JMRI (Way Bill Creator One For JMRI). Select the .xlsm or .xls based upon your version of Excel.
Also dowload WBCI4JMRI_Form.xls.
2. Move these two files into C:\...\JMRI\Operations\csvManifests
As of Version 1.3 the files do not need to be in the csvManifests folder although that is the first choice.
But both files must be in the same folder.
NOTE: Since the introduction of Profiles, these two files need to be in each "profile" operations/csvManifests folders if used.
3. Run WBCI4JMRI.xlsm (.xls)
Select Enable Macros if asked
Now select 'Create & Save Waybill'
Navigate to the csvManifest Directory within JMRI (first time only)
NOTE: Once you select this directory, the program will remember it.
Now select a file with the .csv extension. These files will have the same name as the name of the Train Build
And "walla" you will have 1 to x sheets of Waybills and Empty Car Cards shown in Print Preview
NOTE: With the release of newer versions of Excel, the Print Preview function does not work properly and is skipped.
NOTE: The creator is working on this function and has solved it for other version of Manifest Creator.
Currently the Waybills have a light blue heading and the Empty Car Cards have a light red heading.
NOTE: Future plans will allow this color to be user select-able.
NOTE: Currently the CSV file may contain many different values for a Empty Car.
This makes it very difficult to determine if a Car is empty.
The plan is to approach Dan B, the author of JMRI Operations, to see if something could be added for this.
Continue with additional csv files from your Train Builds.
4. When you have generated all of your Waybills and Empty Car Cars from your Train Builds, select Exit Program.
5. If you have not done so, open and print all generated XLS files and their included Waybills.
There is one file for each CSV file that you process.
NOTE: As of version 1.3 this printing occurs automatically.
6. Separate your individual cards from each sheet (cut with scissors or paper cutter) and place in Car Pockets at appropriate
locations (noted on each Waybill or Empty Car Card)
IMPORTANT NOTE: The program keys off of the first character of Load value to determine an Empty Car. Since JMRI allows you to create your own value for this field, it is impossible to track and check all of the potential values that this field might contain. Just be aware of this if you are using Special Loads and Schedules.

WARNING: It appears that some browser or operating systems are converting the .xlsm extension to xlsx. The MC contains macro code and at times folks use this to infiltrate your system. If you have issues and see that the extension has been changed to .xlsx, you will need to 'rename" the file and change the extension from .xlsx to .xlsm. If this does occur, I would like to know what browser and operating system you used when downloading the file. NOTE: .xls versions are not affected.

In is important that you download these two files whenever you create a new "profile" in JMRI. DO NOT copy these two files from within your other "profiles".
FINAL NOTE: This app has not been modified for several years. If you like the concept but would like to see the information
presented in a bit different format, please let me know. We will work on it together to produce results that might
